Growing a Monsoon Vegetable Garden. Learn how some simple techniques and carefully choosing delicious and desert-adapted varieties of corn, squash, beans, melons, and others can make your vegetable garden a success during this upcoming summer monsoon-rain season. The workshop will cover how to place your garden for best results, how to build fertile soil, and how to protect plants from pests. Handouts, hands-on activities, and a handful of seeds will be included.

Instructors: Kevin Dahl, author of “Native Harvest: Authentic Southwestern Gardening,” and Jill Martinez, recent Prescott College graduate in Environmental Studies and Human Development. Both are lifelong gardeners.
