This is a series of short courses for people who want to engage in effective City planning.

August 7: Land Use Planning 101

The fundamentals of planning in Arizona cities and counties including subdivisions, lot-splits, master development plans, public input, comprehensive and general plans. Presented by Mark Apel, Area Extension Agent, Pima County Cooperative Extension.

August 14: Incorporating Sustainable Development into Plans

Moving from policy to action in terms of the best ideas around sustainable development.  How Plan Tucson incorporates the city’s sustainability framework.
Presented by Leslie Ethen, City of Tucson Office of Sustainability.

August 21: Planning Tools You Can Use

Making use of readily available GIS (Geographic Information Systems) technology on the web to create maps and help communities visualize planning concepts on the ground. Presented by Dr. Iris Patten, Urban Planner

All workshops will take place at UA Downtown,  44 N. Stone Ave., Tucson from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm

Parking is available at the Pennington Street Garage (first hour free) or free on the street after 5:00 pm.
